Vegetable + Butcher was started in 2016 by Turner Hoff and Ariane Valle, two busy professionals who didn’t have the time to prep meals that met their standards: healthy, delicious, sustainable, and local. Turner is gluten-free and Ariane is vegan, so they had a couple additional considerations. Although they had little experience in the food industry, they knew there was a growing demand for the same type of food they wanted and an increasing need to do their part to help the environment. So, they started V+B to serve people who shared their needs and philosophies.

What is your favorite thing about what you do for a living?
From Turner (CEO): The feedback we receive from customers on how impactful V+B has been on their lives, regardless of their goals, has been an incredible motivator. Some customers have medical conditions that we’ve helped temper, some people form a healthier relationship with food, and some are just looking to try out a plant-based diet. I feel lucky to be part of all of those peoples’ lives and help them save time so they can do more of what they love to do.
What's one thing you want your customers to know about you and/or your business?
We’re all about sustainability, which has multiple meanings to us: 1) We believe the best “diet” is one that’s intentional: high-quality and local ingredients and full of plants. Fad diets can’t be maintained. V+B is a long-term solution to eating healthy; 2) We prioritize the environment, which means reducing our waste, composting our packaging, and reusing our delivery bags.
